In the previous article "Yellow River Basin SHP Data (including upper, middle and lower reaches, main stream, tributaries, lakes, etc.)", the editor shared vector SHP data related to the Yellow River Basin, including a set of DEM data. Some friends asked how to preview DEM data in 3D view in ArcGIS Pro. In fact, ArcGIS Pro itself supports 3D preview of DEM data, which is much more convenient than ArcMap (after all, it integrates 2D and 3D). It only takes a few simple steps.

Preparation Tools
- ArcGIS Pro
- Test DEM data
The specific steps are as follows:
1. Open DEM Data
Open the DEM data in ArcGIS Pro by simply dragging the data into the software. Generally, for better visualization, the editor sets a color scheme, as shown below:

2. Hillshade Processing
Click sequentially: Imagery -- Raster Functions -- Hillshade, as shown below:

In the pop-up dialog, select the data source, choose "Multidirectional", and set the Z factor according to actual conditions. For a more pronounced effect, the editor set it to 10.

Then click "Create New Layer" to generate the hillshade.

3. Local Scene
Click: View -- Convert -- To Local Scene.

After successful conversion, you can view the 3D perspective.

Conclusion
With the above steps, you can preview DEM data in 3D view in ArcGIS Pro. Isn't it very simple? Go ahead and try it if you need it.
